Headphone monitor

Hello all,

I received i nice gift today, a pair of Heil PRO 7 headphone. The headphone comes with the wiring to activate the PTT. I kind of thought i would hear my own voice in the headphone while transmitting but it's not the case so i really don't know how loud i'm talking. Is there a way i could hear myself talking in the headphone while transmitting ?

Some radios have a "monitor" function that allow you to hear your transmitted audio. If your radio has this feature it's just a matter of turning this function on.

For those who aren't aware, the monitor function can also be used as a practice CW oscillator. Turn the monitor function on and set the radio up for CW WITHOUT flipping the Transmit button. Then practice to your heart's content.

And make sure you turn 'monitor' off when the phones are unplugged.. Otherwise you can get horrible squealing feedback when you transmit.. (Don't ask me how I know )
