Hearing digital control channel on BCD396T prior to voice transmission

OK, when monitoring the Indiana State Police talkgroups (Motorola APCO-25 digital system), I occassionaly will hear the control channel noise for 1-2 seconds prior to the voice transmission. Any idea what is causing this? Should I check/change a setting? Thanks.

Check your digital threshholds. Also make sure you are using 1.09 firmware.

Check this page out for adjusting the thresholds. http://www.scannersoft.com/digital_sound.htm. Adjusting these will allow for cleaner transmissions, and capturing the decoding quicker. I had a Sheriff's Dept. that would blast my scanner with digital noise for about 2 seconds before the voice came over. This fixed it like a charm.
