I believe this was posted before somewhere but last night I heard a radio station In Texas, I cannot remember the call letters and frequency but I did hear a station out of Philadelphia I believe it was 1060AM. I was listening to their sky view traffic that aired around 930 pm. I was pretty amazed that I was picking up these stations so far away. Now I wish I could hear an AM station out of Traverse City, MI. 1400AM.

While living in Utah I could here Denver at night. Think it was 850 KOA. Pretty phenomenal when a signal can travel that far and come in sounding like it was broadcast in that state.

AM Dx'ing can be a lot of fun. I use an outside steerable loop, and a commercial grade receiver, so sometimes it *almost* seems that I can pick out whatever station in the country I want, any night I want.

Before the FCC started to allow lower powered stations to operate later than local sunset, I could hear almost every dominant in eastern North America. My best DX from Virginia Beach was Radio Cayman on 1555 khz.

I can still hear the super powered cuban stations in the lower part of the band.

Yep...WKYW1060AM

My farthest was listening to a Canadian station, but I honestly don't remember what station it was. :(

You won't hear much besides mumbo jumbo on such a crowded frequency.

Now maybe a mod can move this to the HF/MW/LW General Discussion forum where it belongs?

TV & FM DXing

There is also FM & TV DXing which is pretty neat also. Just find some clear channels on the FM dial near you and since we are getting into the change of seasons propagation should start ramping up soon.

I pick up WOAI 1200 San Antonio and some stations from western Canada here in California.

For TV I recorded some audio from KLEW CBS 3 from Idaho during a sporadic E opening.
