Posting this on both the NY and the MD forums.

I've just been listening to FDNY's Citywide relaying progress reports from Bronx Comms on a haz-mat incident in Division 7. This wouldn't be unusual, except I'm monitoring the Ocean City, MD trunked EDACS system and I'm hearing this on their talk-group 0977.

Now, I'm a former New Yorker so I'm certain what I'm hearing. (The Bronx dispatcher is 479 and Citywide is 835).

The only explanation I can come up with is that the OC system monitors 154.43 mz, the FDNY Citywide freq., because that freq is used by some local department...and it relays it onto its TG 0977. Anyone have a better explanation?

I would guess that it's used to patch an area fire department to the TRS.

154.43 is used by Accomack County, Virginia fire/EMS according to the RR database. The FCC database also shows it's licensed to some fire department's on the north side of Delaware Bay. The frequency also shows up on an expired license for Blades Volunteer Fire Company in Sussex County, Delaware.

Are you hearing this on the OC System or the Worcester County System?

There is a patch from the Worcester County System to Accomac County on their TAC-4 which I will assume is the frequency in question since someone already said this freq was assigned to Accomac County VA, and the ID for the patch talkgroup is 0977....The only reason I ask if you are listening to the county system or the OC system, is I don't believe the Accomac Patch was supposed to be a wide area talkgroup. 0977 is a hard patch and the antenna is about 250' in the air, so I could see it picking up FDNY on skip.

I had heard other radio traffic other than Accomac but didn't know it was FDNY...

Chris -

You're right. Guess it must have been the county system...and the concensus seems to be it's the patch from VA.

Sure did enjoy listening to NY while conditions were good. I grew up listening to them on a tunable, Hallicrafters S-95.

Talked to WCRadioguy today...he said he was under the impression that that patch would have had a pl tone on it, but is not positive cause the radio for the patch was programmed by a local radio shop...all he did was set up the patch.

Personally I think it needs a pl tone.
