I know all the HEB's around San Antonio have the phone/two way things. But, I found two of them using GMRS frequencies lately for operations. Found one on 462.6625 and one on 462.5625 simplex while driving around with close call feature on. Are they going back to traditional radios?

Purely a guess… they needed more communication devices, the current ones are expensive so they got cheapy FRS/GMRS radios instead.

Those are now usable at 2 watts for FRS so might be a simple cost effective solution for their needs.

Yeah that's what I figured. A Lot faster to get short messages across also. I remember the 90s when they were all in the UHF business band.

Just for FYI. This is in Edinburg and Pharr. The Pharr location took me a while to lock on.

Found a couple more here in San Antonio. The HEB Plus locations have an ops and a maintenance channel.
