Helicopter "STAR 1"

I've listening to Lamar County Fire coordinate with a helicopter that identifies itself as STAR 1. Who/what is that? DNR or GSP helicopter? They are attempting to locate lost hikers in a wooded area near a river.

Doesn't Forsyth have a GSP helicopter at the training center they use?

According to Google, Spalding County Sheriff's Office calls their machine STAR-1.

I thought you were getting wicked skip from Alberta where our trauma helicopter service is the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society, and has machines STAR-1 through STAR-11 throughout western Canada.

Always confuses me when the Virginians talk about their radio system too (they call it STARS).

Spalding co. SO has gotten another Helicopter, to replace the one that crashed last year, and it is "STAR-1"
