• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello,
I am considering purchasing a new radio that does dual-band (VHF/UHF). It's nicer than BaoFeng/PoFung, and slightly more expensive. My issue is I can't seem to find software to program it, even tho it says it's PC programmable. It's similar to a Baofeng radio so my thought is CHIRP will work however I can't find any details saying that CHIRP will in-fact do the job. It is a Helida/Henglida CP-UV2000 radio and it's really nice looking with the big LCD display. Does anyone else own this radio, and if-so what software works to program it? Thanks!

••David

I'd pass. No reviews on amazon, and the screenshots appear to be bad photoshops rather than actual photos of the display. Also the chinglish in the listing does not inspire confidence.

In the second listing, the brand name on the product photos doesn't match the brand name in the listing. And the rewiews are pretty horrible. Stay far far away.

What you're looking at is clones of clones sold by either shady or incompetent sellers (multiple complaints of completely wrong batteries sent with radios, etc.) Set your sights a bit higher, look for listings with more than 8 reviews, and pay attention to details like mismatches between the brand name on items in photos vs the brand name in the listing. You may get lucky, but more likely you're going to get burned.

You are probably right...

The real question is how many viruses and malwares you would get infected with if you did?

I have one of these and the software. Don't remember where I got it. No evidence of any malware detected. Will send to anyone interested. Works the same as most of the other programming apps out there.

Received reports of excellent audio, speaker could be better, sensitivity ok. No spectral purity check yet. Great form factor. Fits in hand nicely.

BTW its actually a tri-band radio with 220 also. Haven't swept the antenna that comes with it yet though.

Don't know if its Part 90 approved.

CP-UV2000 Software

User W1AMX mentioned he has the programming software. If someone here has the software would you please email it to me at msuchar@earthlink.net. I have been searching for days and cannot find it anywhere. Even the manufacturer does not have it available.

Thanks for any help.
