Good evening, all. Found this site earlier today while looking up additional info about EMS communications for EMT-B school. Majority of my time here will be spent listening to the local EMS webcast, not really a radio nut or anything like that.

Certainly am glad this site is here, though!

Thanks, guys. Occured to me a few moments ago that this site could become an awesome job-search aid after graduation, will be able to get an idea of where EMT's are needed and where they're not. Either way, am finding it works well to listen to the local traffic while studying.

I learned to ski in Breckenridge! Colorado is a beautiful state!

Once you get your EMT, work hard and get your Paramedic - that is where all the fun is!

Thanks, Mike. I'm coming out of many years in the IT field, got really tired of that, so am hoping to stick with this for (ideally) the rest of my life. Do intend to go for EMT-P, but after a few years of experience have gone by. The real hurdle will be getting on somewhere as a green EMT-B. Going after the IV endorsement after a few months go by on a rig.

EMS has got to be the most fun job you will ever have. Before an unrelated injury took me out, I couldn't have been happier. I don't know how busy it is in Colorado Springs, but I did 9 years in Metro Atlanta with 2 1/2 on the southside of town (where you were guaranteed a shooting AND a stabbing every night), and never had more fun. And if you have a great partner, it's even better.

I will tell you that the first time after I got my Paramedic and got to defiberate, defiblerat, oh hell, the first time I put the paddles to my patient and hit them, it was one of the biggest adrenilen rushes I ever had!

Morning, Mike.

Funny you should have said that about the south end of Atlanta, COS's "bad" area is the same relative position. The local FD has a ride-along program, already did it once, but closer to class ending am going to do it again through one of the stations that services that part of town. Should be interesting.
