...out on Long Island...

I'm not new to scanning (but new to this forum)... I've got my scanner (pro-96) programmed fairly well (I think) for police, fire/ems, HAM (for the most part), and even some local retail, taxis/buses/LIRR and utilities (LIPA)...

Anything I might be missing that is interesting... a little off the beat-and-path?

What are some of your favorite local frequencies in this area?

Thanks! Look forward to getting to know my fellow scanners...

welcome back to scanning! You definitely want to program the suffolk county trunked system as it does have digital talkgroups. The norcom trunked system where commack vac operates is good from time to time. Good luck!!!!!

I would first put in these:
http://www.w2lie.net/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.38

Then filter put in some of the standard VHF Marine Frequencies.
As stated above, be sure to put in CH 16 - 156.800 and 23A - 157.1500

For Aviation,
You can put in some of the air freqs for the Long Island Airports:
http://www.w2lie.net/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.62

But, I prefer to listen to the Air-to-Air frequencies.

Hope that helps

Thanks...

It's been awhile since I worked with Win96 so I've been fooling with it lately and updating. I'm going to start a new post about it actually... I imported some of the marine frequencies from the database here, but so far it's been silent.

Are we allowed to share our local p96 files here? I'd love to trade files with anyone willing and get opinions on how I have mine setup... maybe get tips from some of the more advanced scanner-geeks around here :)
