Does anyone have a list of what callsigns go with what tailnumbers for police, EMS aircraft?

For Example, Contra Costa Sheriff STARR1 = N407CC

I'm trying to set up alerts for my ADSB program to alert me when they are up in the air. Would really like to have CalStar and Reach aircraft too.

Thanks.

kma371, I'm familiar the Plane Finder, both the home and iPhone versions, which track using ADS-B technology. May I ask what search program you're using?

Back to your question, you could try searching through Google images.

The FAA website may help a little: http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/
I don't see an advanced search tab so it may take a while to sort through the returns. I was able to see the N number of US Forest Service aircraft by searching under USDA.

I do like the idea of what you're setting up. It never occurred to me to track medical or fire helicopters in action. Would be interesting to watch say CalFire helicopters and such aircraft working a major wild fire.

I'm using planeplotter. User is "mi"

The only issue with FAA database is when there is more than one aircraft registered to specific agency.

For example, Oakland has 3 helos, Sacramento PD has at least 2, Sacramento county has at least 3 or 4.

Sacramento County Sheriff uses the "STAR" callsign - they have a web site at Mission Statement For Air Ops Cops , but don't list the aircraft. I believe they use the last numeric digit of the registration number for the STARx call.

Sacramento Police Department uses the "AIR" callsign. I don't have any more information on them.

CalSTAR has information at http://www.calstar.org/service/default.aspx - they show information on the callsigns for each facility.

Thanks everyone so far, but the callsigns arent really the issue. It's matching up registration numbers WITH the callsigns.

I might have to make a trip to some airports

Thanks everyone so far, but the callsigns arent really the issue. It's matching up registration numbers WITH the callsigns.
Departments with smaller air forces may assign fixed tail numbers to their radio callsigns, but at LAPD they generally don't. There are about 16 "patrol" helicopters which rotate, so to speak, among callsigns which correspond to the primary patrol division to which they're assigned on a given flight.

Just as an example, Aerospatiale N668PD may be assigned to the San Fernando Valley and flying as "Air 10" one day, working the western metropolitan part of the city as "Air 8" the next, and have a surveillance assignment with a totally different type of callsign the next.

I haven't listened closely at night for a while, but during the early morning hours, about 03:00-07:00 depending on the day and the workload, they would have just one air unit, often on standby at Piper Tech's police "Hooper Heliport", for the entire city, and they would have an "Air 70" or "Air 80" callsign.

A wiki is a great idea. I tried the plane plotter but all that aeronautical jargon is beyond me. I wish there was a simpler way to see the CDF aircraft online this season.

Thanks, but...Again, the registration numbers aren't the issue...I'm talking about matching registration numbers with callsigns for agencies with multiple aircraft.
