I haven't tried this but my first thought is to dump the 97 data into a .csv file, then import it into Win95. I have a feeling you'd need to edit out the data that the 95 cannot use, such as PL or DCS information, but that should be easy enough, if a bit tedious. 73s Mike

Another is to copy the 97 stuff in excel, and delete the colums that 95 does not need.

As I recall, you can open both programs, then highlight the data in one, and paste it into the other.

I have copied and pasted data from rows in Win95 and pasted them into Win97, so it will work. Might just have to try it a time or two to see what will make it work, but I know that it will work. I have copied all rows from the channels side and pasted as well as copying all the talkgroups in a bank and pasting them as well. Saved me alot of time in setting up a Win97 file like I wanted it.

That's correct...you CAN copy data from WIN95 into WIN97. However, I need to do the reverse...which does not seem to work. Any suggestions ??

I know this is going to sound like a lot of work but it worked for me. I imported my p97 file as a csv file to Win 96 then opened up win 96 to copy and paste to win 95.

I don't know why it won't copy and past frm win 97 to 95 but it will copy and past from win 96 to 95. Sooooo, if you have Win 96 as well you could try that.

Win95 does not import CSV files.

I think your only choice is to use Excel (or some other spreadsheet program) to do it as suggested earlier.

Click file, then export, that gives you the CSV option :D

You can try using the attached spreadsheet. Copy the data you want from Win97 to the spreadsheet. The formatted data will appear under the Win92 columns, limited to 50 channels per bank. You can copy additional channel cells if you need more. Copy only the alpha tags and frequencies from the Win92 columns to paste into Win95.

I guess maybe I never made it quite clear. What I did was this

1-Opened up the file in Win97
2-choose export and the save as box pops up
3-give it a name ie: win95 then choose where ie: Desktop and save
5- when the select data to export box pops up choose what you want to save then ok

6- open up Win 96 and click on file import and find that CSV file that you just made & open
7- Then I just opened up Win 95 as well as Win 96 and did the copy and paste from Win 96 to Win 95

He has never said he has Win96. And if he had tried it out sometime previously the timed free tryout period may have expired.

I normally have to do the excell thing. Once you copy from Win97, erase all the columns except for Freq. and the alpha tag. Then edit the alpha tags so that they are 12 or less characters. Then you'll be able to copy and paste more than one at a time. Since the Pro-97 allows 16 character alpha tags, it confuses Win95 because it only allows for 12 characters. That's why you can go from win95 to win 97 and not vise versa.
