Hypothetical question here.
If a talkgroup is encrypted and they want to unencrypt.
How would that work?
Is it controlled by the radio or the system controller.
Would they just just change the talkgroup to unencrypted via the site controller?
I have googled this and cannot find a answer.

Depends on how the encrypting is set up. Strapped for full time would need system level changes. On per use basis the end users can select secure or not.

On one system I use we have 4 assigned tgs. One is always clear one full time encrypted other two are user selectable encryption.

Without giving any system into. Encryption is used 100 percent .
So if I understand if they were to unencrypted.
It would have to be done at the system/site control
On the actual talkgroup. If I remember correctly the radios do not have a encryption on or off switch .

Correct if a tg is set for full time encryption end users can not change it to clear. It would have to be done at the system admin level and then all radios reprogrammed for the change.

It's encrypted you can hear dispatchers but not officers

the radios are apx 6000

I see that you have apx600xe.
Where is the secure/clear switch located .
I have seen and played around with one but did not see it.
Is it a actual switch or a programmed menu driven function

Mine is set for the side button 2. It can be set for button 1 button 2 or the orange key
