Help ID this freq

484.6625 heard in the North Shore on my BC 780 sounds like APCO 25 or des type of encription or scrambling.I am located in Tewksbury MA. I did try to hear it on the input no luck there.

Thats how I programed it in one of my area scanners without PL.I am hearing this freq comming in as des or p 25 digital I dont have a scanner that picks up apco 25.

You may be experiencing intermod. If you live near a pager/cell phone tower, this is probably what is happening. That would explain why you are the only one that hears the 'signal' and why you do not hear anything on the input. I live in Peabody and I have never heard a digital or encrypted signal on the FD freq.

No this was not intermod.Maybe its tropo but definetly it is a dvp/des/apco signal.

Well, that is quite a possibility. For a while now the tropo on 2 meters has been hot. I have been getting into NYC and PA. Lately, 440 MHz has been hotter than I have ever seen. My friend N1QZ in Ringe NH was using his HT to talk to a guy in Manhattan on UHF simplex. So, your tropo theory has a lot of backup. But, as you know, if tropo is the case it will be especially hard to identify the origin. If you have a directional antenna you might be able to get a bearing which may help.
