Hi all, just received this unit yesterday, and no probs programming conventional in different scan lists. When I enter a trnnked system in scan list 4, no probs. When I go thru same steps to enter a second trunked system into scan list 5, and then return to scan, all the info from the first trunked system is erased, and the new control channel frequencies and everything else for the new system AND alpha label has replaced all the info in scan list 4, in addition to same info in the "new" scan list 5!!!! So now I have TWO identical TRS in both lists 4 and 5! I have gone thru this 5-6 times, and every time a new scan list is entered with new CC freqs and label, the previous one in list 4 is erased. Could someone remind me of whatever simple step I am missing here? live in Orange County, CA(the land of 99% encrypted police comms). so different TRS for fire for diff parts of the county. thanks in advance!!!!

I will be forever indebted to anyone who can help! (more so if we can ever again monitor routine police comms in this county!!!)

Can't help you on police comms in OC CA. That's their choice and erroneous as that is (IMHO), it is what it is. As to programming this baby, are you using programming software? If so, which? The 500/600 always overwrites all memory when saving new programming. That's why it's SO-O-O much easier using the cable and software than trying to do this by manual means. I had a devil of a time understanding mine at all when I first got it since object oriented programming was so counterintuitive. Definitely worth the small incremental investment and a giant step to understanding how this scanner organizes & saves stuff. Once you see how it works, you'll love it.

Rick, thanks for the comeback, no, I have been doing this manually. Actually, I have a PSR 500 which I programmed manually, but that was a couple years ago, and I don't remember how I did it, where the different TRS were applied without probs to the different scan lists....... I do recall it took a lot of time by trial and error.......... should have videotaped myself doing it previously!!!!

It sounds like you are not creating a new TSYS object and just over writing it then assigning it to a different Scan List.
To add a new/different trunked system, you need to create a new TSYS object.

You might find this site a nice refresher for programming:
Easier to Read Pro-106/197/PSR500/600 Digital Scanner Manual

I also agree with Rick, get the Win500 program and a premium subscription for here and you won't worry about contracting Carpal Tunnel Syndrome programming this thing. Win500 is free to try for 30 days, then its worth every penny of the $35 to keep using it.

Hi, thanks for your reply! yeah, I found this out myself this afternoon; I have been neglecting to label the TSY as "new" and so was overwriting the previous TRS each time I entered a new one. So, I did it right this time...... instructions kinda implied that, but somehow, was not very clear in making it known, It works fine now, and thanks for your help............ now, if only OC law enforcement would only be more monitorable........would never happen in my lifetime!!!! have a good Thanksgiving all!!!!
