• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have a 2010 Honda Accord and space for mounting equipment is scarce. All I have is a Uniden HP-1 with a suction cup mount and a Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS next to it on a suction cup mount. I bought a Radio Shack amplified speaker this summer and finally mounted it under the dash underneath the steering wheel. However, my wife drove the car this week and she scrapes her leg on it getting in and out since she has the seat closer to the steering wheel. So, I am just brainstorming here to see what sort of creative location and solutions people have come up with for mounting external speakers in small vehicle. One thought I h ave had is to simply use Velcro and place it in front of the stereo display. Also, I am wondering if Ram Mounts or Pana Vise have a suction cup mount that would work with the Radio Shack amplified external speaker.

Here's where I put mine in an '07 Accord.
It's the storage compartment in front on shifter.

This thread is a little old, but I'd figure I would ask anyway. I need to mount 3 kenwood sp-50b speakers somewhere. Two for the kenwood dual bander and 1 for the uniden bcd996xt.

Where did you end up mounting yours?

Have you thought about mounting on the package tray behind the rear seats? I did that a few vehicles ago and seemed to work rather well.

1) Rear deck, but that may expose it to UV and, possibly worse, heat from sunlight coming through the rear window.
2) B-pillar, above and behind the driver and front passengers heads, if there's room above the seatbelt.

Or the A-pillar...

Like this . . . if the speakers are small enough and the A-pillar is long enough, as in my Beetle. Just make sure the sun visor will clear it, as I did not - DOH!

On the headliner, above the rear view mirror, or between the visors.
Easy to hear and out of the way. ;)
