help me decide please

New here. I have an old unidentified handheld scanner at the moment. I would like a new one that would let me hear law enforcement etc in the Madison/Jackson areas. I have been reading but really know nothing about trunking/digital etc. I don't mind buying used or older gear. What do I need?
I would prefer handheld.

Have every brand of scanner known to man and this one is hands down the best for digital:

Might add, the Pro-106 is more than adequate to monitor all the systems, digital and analog, in the Jackson metro area. Also easy to program and operate. Good luck!
