I am looking for another HT I'v had the VX7R and F6A sold the F6 just because I wasn't using it too much, but now I need another portable. I was thinking of getting the F6 again, but was thinking about the VX6. Has anyone messed with the settings (TX power) in the VX6 menu? Curious if it does more than 1.5W ...

Yes it does 5 watts on 2m/70cm 1.5watt on 220. its a great radio. I was considering the F6 but the VX-6 has the dynamically allocated memory banks that you can have 1 to 999 memories in each bank, I forget what the F6 had like 20 channels in 10 banks or something that just wasnt flexible enough for my application. In my opinion the only advantage the F6 has over the VX-6 is the fact it has 6.25khz tuning steps, alot of public safety here is going narrow band and although the VX-6 picks it up fine its nice to be on the same frequency.

Have you tried to increase the power on 220Mhz? If you do let me know ... I did on my VX7R and it worked, so hopefully it will work on the VX6
