IIRC, UPMan stated that the HomePatrols didn't have the hardware needed to add DMR and NXDN to their firmware, and that's why it wasn't done back when those modes were first added to the x36 models.

Was that in reference to both versions or just the HP-1? I believe the HP-1 does not have the required hardware. Maybe he was referencing the HP-2 as well. I frankly don't recall.

Does Department 0 need to stay on all the time on the SDS100?

So this might be silly operator comprehension error, but I hope I explain this OK. Apologies in advance if this was brought up before, too.

I have my Quick Keys set up this way:
Favorite List: 0
System: 0
Departments: 0,1,2,3,4,5 etc

I can turn Departments on and off with ..1, ..2, ..3 etc but what I have found is that if I ever turn off Department 0, with ..0, I am greeted with "Scan Mode, Nothing to Scan" and it turns off all scanning on that Favorite list? The only way I can turn things back on is with 0.0.00, which turns back on and everything goes back to normal.

Can you give me details? Is this maybe a trunked system and the SITE is assigned Site Quick Key 0?
(which means you are disabling all sites to scan)

There are some models where Quick Key 00 was reserved.

Your System and Department can't have the same Quick Key. 0.0 is also turning off the System in addition to the Department. Change either or and you should be good.

The HP-1 never had the appropriate hardware to decode P25 TDMA, which means it wouldn't do much good with DMR or NXDN, since they all use the same AMBE+2 vocoder and DVSI chip. The HP-2 obviously has TDMA capability, ergo is AMBE+2 capable, however I suppose the real question is whether or not there is room left in the firmware ROM chip (or wherever all that stuff is stored) to fit the addition of DMR and/or NXDN in. I could've sworn that Paul once made a reference to that in a post, but I wasn't able to find anything definitive.

System Quick Keys and Dept Quick Keys are not shared. (and can be the same)

Site Quick Keys and Dept Quick Keys are (maybe that is what you meant?)

Now that you mention that, I recall the same thing. Regardless, it will be asked.

I think he was pressing 0.0 and showing nothing to scan thinking he was only turning off the department? Maybe one too many 0's?

***(0.0.0) should turn off only Department 0. (0.0) turns off System 0.**

This thread is so jumbled now that it's impossible to find anything anymore.

My recollection (which may not be 100% accurate) is that the HomePatrols didn't have enough storage to accommodate the increased firmware size needed to add DMR or NXDN, and therefore there was no possibility of adding those modes to either of those models.

I think that may be the best answer. I forget UPMan's exact comments when NXDN was released for the 325P2 & 996P2, but the comments were along the line that he originally thought there was sufficient headspace in those models to allow the firmware upgrade, but after further study, a way was found to add the feature for those two.

Yep, it's a Trunked system. You called it, it was a quick key assigned to a Site that I forgot that I had set up.

@JoeBearcat's response make sense, didn't dawn on me that I did in fact set up a Site 0. When I hit .0.0, I see the Departments. When I hit ..0, I see the same thing again, Departments.

Perhaps then, there should be a display for quick keys for Sites?

Yes it did after reading your original post a few times. Your sites don't necessarily need an assigned quick key unless you want to turn them on and off.

Stupid question, but will Siren ever work in android? all it does is crash. I have not considered purchasing another Uniden, due to all the broken promises with the BCD536HP that never were fulfilled in the release video.

Interesting to see so many posts regarding the status LED. Having my SDS running side-by-side with several GRE models, I was not happy to see that the LED on the SDS times out after 5 seconds while those on the GRE models follow the conversations. Responses here as to why this happens suggests there is a GRE patent on this. Considering how much people LOVE this feature, I wonder if you've considered licensing (or equiv) the technology so the status LED on the SDS models can also follow carriers.

I wondering the samething. I like where you can have more than 1 color also if you have more than 1 pd/so in your area.

We have tried to improve that with the Sentinel software updates. However, I will review the instructions for the BC_VUP software (I am assuming that is what you are talking about) and will add a TWIKI page for the Sentinel updates. Do you have any specific areas you would like to see clarified? Any specific models?

And of course the absense of the current firmware in BC_VUP was an issue that is now resolved.

Keep me busy? I have no doubt.

Glad to hear this has been worked out. Even for me, an IT professional who spends most of his time online in some form, tracking down links to determine what is the latest firmware, what changes there have been, where to download software when I setup a new machine, all needed a good optimizing so they could be easily found and so that internet searches could return the correct links.
