Help me program San Mateo county for 996

I am trying to use the information from the RR db to try and program GPS coordinates for the 996T / multi-site feature. I am sooo confused.

The RR db only lists eight 'sites', but according to my spreadsheet, there are 13 individual locations. I created my spreadsheet by clicking down through to the FCC data to get the site locations.

Anyone want to comment about an easier way to actually get the actual GPS coordinates for the individual sites?

Please, please, please, Lindsay, please make it easier to extract site locations for the 996!

Go directly to the FCC web site and locate your sites that way. You will have the correct sites and the Lon/Lat information will be exactly as used in the 996/BCT15.

Use the Callsign lookup from the RadioReference informtion to get you to the system: WPPG446

This shows site: 401 Marshall Street, Redwood City, CA, 37 29 17.7 N/122 13 49.8 W

So you enter that lon/lat info as 372917.7, -1221349.8 into your UASD entry.

Using your long/lat data in the help.zip spreadsheet file you can select the UASD Location Editor and enter the lon/lat data in the windowa as DEG (DDD.dddddd) then pull down the DMS (DDDMMSS.ss) and it will be converted for you.

Thanks. I apologize that in my frustration, I wasn't clearer.

I already have the FCC data in the spreadsheet. And I have a formula to convert between DDD.sssss and DMS.

My frustration/confusion is that the RR db entry for San Mateo only lists eight sites and the licenses appear to show there are at least 14.

I was wondering why they were missing 6. And what information I might be overlooking?

Could be that the RR database is not up to date. Maybe you need to submit the information you have found. Do you have active control channels for those sites?

There are more than eight sites as two sites, as assigned by a number in the Zone Controller, are Simulcast. So you have a site that is a subnetwork (think hierarchy) of sites. You can't go by the RR information unless all sites are single sites (IntelliRepeaters for example). What the FCC lists so far should be correct though I don't recall what's licensed off the top of my head. Sometimes there are admin screwups and you get multiple licenses for a site with very, very slight lat/long difference. It's often better to map them first.
