you can USE rechargable batteries in the Pro-92 but do NOT re-charge them IN the radio. ALWAYS use an external battery charger. IMO, this advice applies to all radios.
kafx, the yellow battery holder is the same size/shape of the black holder. It is recommended by members more often than not, that the batteries be charged outside the radio due to damage to both the radio and holder, and to mention anything surrounding the radio, if left unattended. Too many of these chargers overheat the batteries because the radio uses a timer to charge, not a supervised current monitor (internally). Most members recommend using an external charger designed for a supervised regulated charger so as to protect both the radio and batteries. One meltdown is all it takes ($$$ depending on how long it is before found). Good luck.
The yellow battery case looks exactly like the black case except it has an extra contact for changing rechargeable batteries. The black case is for alkaline batteries and lacks the charging contact. Alkalines have a nasty habit of leaking or exploding if you try to recharge them.

I have a Pro 95 and it's got a yellow tray for recharging batteries. I always charge mine in an external smart charger. My 9v radio shack charger gets too warm.
