• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

On my receive I have to hit the PTT button in order to let the audio come through the speaker??... any suggestions on why that is happening? .............. otherwise the radio is working fine, but of course who wants to live with that issue!... I actually need to do this with every single received transmission, which means I actually need to LOOK at the radio to see when a transmission is coming through so I can briefly press the PTT in order to hear it !! and even then, I still of course wind up missing the first 1/3 of the transmission.................. WTH?
Any Ideas?
Radio id DMR operating with a hot spot and I can see by the signal meter on the radio it is receiving the transmission from the hot spot

Well, heres an update:
I have not been able to try a repeater yet, however, I tried transmitting to the hytera (simplex) using the hotspot frequency using another DMR radio and its a-ok, and then I was able to try a different hot spot ....and No-Go, SO, there is something about the hotspot that wont let the dmr radio open up until I tap the ptt? ............ it will need to be returned unfortunately....I liked it, too bad really...... so it kind of is the radio, I have never heard of an issue like this, but it also seems in some way that the hotspot delivers a signal in a particular way this radio doesn't fully appreciate somehow?

Sell a radio because the fault is with the hot spot? The radio receives fine from another radio. That means the radio is fine. Most local DMR repeaters do not allow hot spots, but on the one that does, it’s easy to tell whose using a hot spot, & whose not. Good luck to you.

yes, I need to sell it because the vast majority of my comms on DMR is through my 2 hotspots.........
Thanks for replying......... Also, I didn't know that about repeaters not allowing hotspot transmissions through..... I feel like I've spoken to a lot of folks through/on repeaters when using the hotspots though? .......... well maybe its more prevalent in your particular area?

The local systems that do not allow hot spots are not linked on the internet with D-Mark, or Brandmeister, so there’s no way to use a hot spot. And the users of these repeaters have no interest in talking around the world on DMR. Most are in the service industry driving from customer, to customer to repair what needs to be repaired. We just talk to friends all over Florida as we drive from customer, to customer. And the guy whose repeater is linked to everybody wishes from time to time it wasn’t.
