If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

New EDACS CC in Norfolk VA area
While running limit search, the Pro 2096 locked on this EDACS CC. 406.8750.
I plugged the freq in my tapped Pro-2048 and ran ETrunk and have plenty of traffic and the LCN, but no other freqs.

Can any of you etrunk experts help with this list.

Code:
 v0x001
 v0x002
d 0x003 (I replaced this with 406.8750)
 v0x004
 v0x006
 v0x007
 v0x008
 v0x009
 v0x00a

The USS Harry Truman (CVN-75) is returning from deployment as I write this and has this MA/Com HYDRA Systems, so I think this is likely what I'm trying to log.

What do the voice channels sound like? I presume they are digital. Of course, you'll never to be able to follow a conversation.

I haven't heard anything yet, Only found the one freq during a Search on my Pro-96. I guess running a search in 406.0000 to 412.0000 and watch the monitor for a match, then slowly fill in the freqs is the only way to go...eh?

Being landlocked, I'll probably never have the chance, but why not? Crypto aside, that is.

I gather it is a spin-off of EDACS, with 12.5kHz digital voice channels...

I can only guess from the stated COTS equipment approach and the use of MRKs that the scheme would be either Analog or Aegis...

Thanks for jumping in with help, Mark.

Apparently this system is not MA/Com but it is a Navy ship and not digital (EDACS regular). I just stumbled on a weak signal which fits in LCN 4. The freq is 407.2000 and used mostly for phone patch, but have heard one conversation referring to an 02-01-L level which is the 2nd deck above the main deck for you landlubbers.

Doubtful this is any of the ships on the list provided earlier because they are all using MA/Com.

One step closer, still needing LCN 1,2,6,7,8,9,a & e. LCN 5 doesn't exist yet and 3 is the CC 406.8750.

I hadn't paid any attention to the power, thanks for catching that. As the crow flys (sober anyway) these piers are 9 miles due east of me. At that power I'll be lucky if I can find the LCN without driving over 4 bridges and through one tunnel (as a drunk crow) flys to the base, 25 miles.

Chris, I caught your post just prior to sending this, thanks for your incite. I retired from "gray and underway" 27 years ago, we had state of the art coms then (we thought) but nothing like today.

Navy Comms are truly right now a mixed breed... Motorola ASTRO VHF, UHF, and 800... M/A-Comm EDACS, and HYDRA.... in all three flavors- Analog, AEGIS, anddddd Provoice..... And thats just trunking.... Then you have the Motorola, EFJ, M/A-Comm, and Kenwoods doing conventional in both analog and digital,.. and for special ops the multiband, multimode backpacks.... Then to top it all off- aviation, maritime, and satellite... EHF, ULF, HF........ And as a last resort- Lights for Morse Code.

IKE should be using 378 - 403Mhz for HYDRA.
Andy

Hey Andy,

Haven't heard from you in awhile, nice to see your post.

Update on this system, these two I picked up by chance a week or so ago.
LCN7 410.0500
LCN8 411.3250
and this was added via ETrunk since my last post.
v0x01e

I've heard some voice on 411.3250 but this morning while running ETrunk, only static noise and around 1030 local, the CC dropped and is still missing.

Hmm, this mornings paper list three ships (a cruiser, a tin can and a transport) pulling out for the Baltic region. The transport is in the Hydra list mentioned previously and using 380-399.9 so that makes it one of the other two. But, I do have the names of the ships anyway, one is famous in recent times.

Continued when the CC returns.

Hi Frank!

That's not a "real" LCN ... it's one of the queue'd responses (LCN's 27 through 31).

Thanks Rick,
I'll just ignore them. Those vessels should return in a couple of months so will continue mapping the system.

I list the queued responses in all of my ####sys.txt files so when one pops up, it is identified correctly by ETrunker.
