HELP!!! PART FOR A 785D Needed!

Turned the 785D on, and the Volume control knob broke in half -- not cracked, BROKE.

1.... Who do I contact about purchasing a new one? Don't have a part number for it.

2.... Any ideas on cost plus shipping to California?

3.... Do they accept Money Orders?

I have the pieces, but far as supergluing, I don't know if such glue would cause it to warp or other problems -- also the knob is about 3/4" in length, probably be difficult to clamp together quickly enough.

I think that they have a $10.00 minimum so you might want to order all of the knobs or a couple of the on/off volume or whatever.

don't super glue it.

i did that on my 780xlt and messed things up, i had to send it in for rpairs and they also replaced the display that i messed up when i dropped it.

I would try the super glue if it is a clean break. You should only have to hold it togeather for 30 seconds to a minute. i wouldn't think you would need a clamp.

super glue on a volume/squelch control?

you are better off buying the control! but make sure that you have a low wattage soldering iron and LOTS of solderwick. its not going to be an easy job.

it is likely he is referring to the plastic knob only and not the entire control pot. The plastic knob is notorious for splitting in two. I have 7 of the 780/785/796 series and the channel knob has split on three of them. I have epoxied two of them back together and the third is in the "to do" pile.

Yes,That is just for the knob. I've 2 780 and 1 785D and had to replace the knob at lest once on each radio. So I bought several and that is the part number on the bag. Call Uniden at 1-800-554-3988 to be sure. Rick
