Thanks

I have input all the frequencies and I'm saving the IDs that come up but what if I just want to monitor one ID. In this case it would be AMR rancho cucamonga dispatch. Do I have to wait for it to randomly come up to lock on it or can I browse through the bank and choose to listen to it?

PRO-164 TRS programming

Welcome to RadioReference.com! If this is the only thing you are going to program, I guess you can do it by hand. Most of us use software to program our scanners, it makes it much easier. If you have a subscription to RR, you can even just "import" the data - no typing needed.

It looks like you are trying to program this system. You only need to program these 4 frequencies. Pick one bank of the scanner and dedicate to this system. I know you'll have 96 empty slots, but that's fine until you get up to speed.

You need 868.1875, 868.3625, 868.4125 & 868.8375 in any order and all set to MO mode (not FM). To limit the talkgroups (TGs) being received, set the bank to CLOSED. Then go into the TG editor and enter in the TGs you want to hear and their descriptions. Note: with software you can cut and paste from your post.

That's it!

Awesome. Thank you gmclam. I think I figured out how to only listen to one TG. I press PGM then TRUNK then click over to the TG I want. Then I press FUNCTION then TRUNK and it will only follow that TG. Does that sound right? It works.

That puts the scanner in "*ID HOLD MODE*". The problem with that mode is it does not check to see if the control channel frequency changes. That means if you only use that mode, at some point, you'll stop receiving and won't understand why.

TGs are organized into 5 sub-groups of 30. Each sub-group can be turned on and off. Additionally, each TG can be locked out. If you're not using many TGs, put the AMR TG in its own sub-group and turn the others off. FUNC 1 while in the TG editor/viewer toggles the displayed sub-group on/off.

Once it is programmed, you don't have to wait for it, as you have already figured out. But HOLD mode is not the way to just scan one (or any) TGs. Turn on/off and lock out or unlock the groups as you want, then press SCAN.
