try to monitor JUST goodyear fire. Can i get some assistance please

I'll give you the cheap and dirty route.


Punch in your zip code of 85338 or 85395 as appropriate...
Set range for 10 miles.
Go to service and turn "ON" only Fire Dispatch, Fire-Tac, and Fire-Talk.
Push the "Menu" button until you are out of the set up and scanning.

Now, wait until Regional Wireless Dispatch Fire Alarm on 'A-1' Deck or 'K-1' Deck broadcasts. It shouldn't be more than a few minutes.
Keep in mind that Goodyear does not have their own dispatch alarm room and you have to listen to everything Regional alarm sends out, unless you listen to Goodyear 'K-2' deck exclusively for admin stuff.

Goodyear Fire traffic can be on A/K-8 [South] or A/K-9 [West].

You can use the Function/Scroll knob to find individual channels to within a folder.

There is no way to listen solely to any one department or district that is part of the Phoenix Fire Department Regional Dispatch Consortium. You have to train your ears to listen for their apparatus numbers, which in this case are in the 181-189 range for Goodyear.

Adjacent departments & districts:
Tolleson is assigned apparatus numbers in the 160's.
Avondale is assigned apparatus numbers in the 170's.
Buckeye is assigned apparatus numbers in the 700's-740's, although they have less than 10 stations currently.
Buckeye Valley is assigned apparatus numbers in the 320's.
Luke AFB is assigned apparatus numbers in the 360's.

Can I program AK8 or 9?

A-deck 8 is 153.7700. It has a DCS of 612.
A-deck 9 is 155.6700. It has a DCS of 624.

K-deck 8 is talkgroup 1613 on the Regional Wireless Cooperative trunked system.
K-deck 9 is talkgroup 1612 on the Regional Wireless Cooperative trunked system.

Major medical calls will be assigned to talkgroups K-10 through K-13.

Well tried to program locals no success maybe I am too low in valley to hear what I want- considering a return

For the Phoenix FD A-deck VHF-High simplex channels, you need to be within a few miles of an incident to hear the portable radios at the scene. Mobile radios can be heard a little further out. You can hear the alarm room pretty much Valley wide.
The higher your antenna, the further you can hear.
This will be true of any scanner, regardless of make & model.
