HELP (radioshack-pro 106)

I have joined RR, paid $35 for Win 500,bought the programming cable 20-047 from radioshack and now the website wants me to pay $39.95 to purchase WinZip so I can download the files. Can anyone explain what I need to do so I can program my scanner and what else I will have to pay for ? I'm sure ya'll understand I have'nt a clue what I'm doing...please help...thanks

You don't need WinZip to download the files. Download them to your desktop, right click and hit extract. Your computer already has an unzipping program.

Your op sys will do just a fine job of unzipping files without buying WinZip. If you have virtually any Windows system just download the zipped file and then select open once it's downloaded. The system should give you dialog boxes asking you to decide where to put the unzipped files (usually put them in the same folder you downloaded to). You should ultimately come out with an uncompressed properly tagged file (.***).
