Seems like the county uses a P25 PII system with some VHF conventional. You can look up Unacation pagers and find what you are looking for. The G5 should fit what you need. Last I checked they run about 750 bucks

If you get a G5 you probably want the VHF +700/800 model which will also cover the Monroe/Ontario and Genesee/Orleans trunked systems in addition to VHF which includes Wayne, Yates, Steuben & Allegany conventional plus Cattaraugus and Chautauqua trunked in addition to Livingston. If you don't care about Monroe, Ontario, Genesee & Orleans trunked systems get the single band VHF G4 that will just cover Livingston and the VHF counties.

If you just want to monitor dispatches, most departments in Livingston County use VHF Minitor 6 pagers. Some agencies have purchased Unication pagers to monitor ops channels on the Phase 2 trunk.

If you're going to purchase a single-band G2, I'd suggest spending the extra $100 for a dual-band G5 to monitor Ontario County's trunk. The agencies on the east side of Livingston County (to include Livonia) frequently go into Ontario County.

Decided to go with the g5 vhf

You will like it, as I have both the G4 and G5.

Programming is kind of challenging, but if you become a Premium Subscriber to this site you can download the systems, sites and talkgroups into the PPS software. You still need to decide which ones you want on each knob positions. Each knob position can scan a maximum of 64 talkgroups. If it's a conventional scan list on the knob can be a max of 16 frequencies.

Also the VHF second band uses the internal antenna. If works alright with this set up 97% of the time, but depending on your local system you could have a few drop outs in low signal areas on VHF. The amplified charger has antenna connection for the second band

Even with the short commings of only being able to scan on system/site at time I wouldn't want to be without these pagers. They have great receive. Small and easy to carry, and have great battery life.
