Hello,
Montreal frequencies: Montreal County, Quebec (QC) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference
I live in Montreal, more precisely near Anjou, and would like to get a cheap and easy to use radio scanner.
I am new to this hobby, and don't want to get too involved, but would like to give radio scanning a try.
I read a few articles in the wiki and must admit debanding left me confused,so I would like to get your opinion on what would be the best radio for this area.I am looking for a base,non-portable unit, capable of listening to SPVM,port, public services and a few trunked radios like La ronde, gaz metro, centre Bell, casino,if possible.
If I understand correctly,I do not need a digital scanner but need a trunking one.I am not sure if any of these channels are affected by the debanding though.I am trying to keep cost as low as possible.I have seen a very cheap radioshack pro-2050,would this be compatible with the suggered channels ? What other receivers would you suggest ?
I am about 20min. from downtown,so I assume the signals should be pretty strong, but the receiver would be located downstairs.Do you think installing the antenna in the attic would give a significant boost to the signal ?
Thank you for your help.

Kiwi32, welcome to Radio Reference. Your best answer will be in the Quebec provincial forum further down the forums page:) You will get great answers from your local scannists. We can only guess what you could use to hear your county.
HTH,
Larry
