Hi! I just bought a Laird B4505C mobile antenna, for use in my vehicle during fire department operations. I'd like to trim it to work in the 460Mhz UHF band, transmit and receive. The antenna comes with a trim chart, but it doesn't seem to jive with the actual antenna. The coil on it is sealed, so the only place to trim the antenna is the bottom, where it mounts into the radiator.
The antenna is supposed to work between 450 and 470 Mhz, but the area I think I'm supposed to be trimming (between the bottom of the coil and the bottom of the whip) isn't long enough to match up with the chart. I don't know if I have the wrong chart, or if I'm not measuring from the right spot.
Does anybody have any specific experience with this antenna? I'm also trying to reach the manufacturer in the mean time, but any help would be... helpful.
Thanks!
Andy
