Help Uniden 536hp

I just bought a second 536hp, and I am having problems.

I updated the firm wear on the new scanner.

I am using the same exact profile from sentinel .
All programing is the same .
Antenna is the same.

The old 536 works fine on the New Jersey Interoperability Communications System (NJICS) .
The new 536 hears nothing on that system.

Old 536 shows firmware version 1.06.10 sum =120,m ver-1
New 536 shows firmware version 1.06.10 sum =139 m ver-1

old 536 has dimmed display problem
new 536 has bright display

Did the firmware change between the two versions I have and degrade radio performance ?

I am curious what others firmware version are.

Does anyone know what the sum refers to ?

A couple of things come to mind though they are more wild guesses than anything else.

Are both location settings the same (Menu>Set Your Location>Set Manual Location), checking both Latitude and Longitude.

Are the Range settings identical (assuming you are using Location Control)?

Could there be any Quick Keys that may have been inadvertently turned off (FL, System or Department)?

Are both scanners at the same location?

I'm using 1.06.10. I haven't a clue what "Sum" means, but I'm showing 002 on one of mine.

There have been reports of dimmed display from other users.

I think you forgot the biggest forgotten setting - the SERVICE TYPES. They should be set the same, but check them.

Also version 1.06.10 is the same as version 1.06.10, so where are you getting a difference in versions?

My post shows the difference using same file from sentinel on both radios !

Look at the bottom line in firmware version on your scanner .

Now do you see where the sum=,m-ver= 1 is shown ?

Yes, I do, but those have nothing to do with the version. The checksum is different because the two scanners have different serial numbers. Otherwise the version is showing as identical. Specifically version 1.06.10

My checksum is 0F1 but I'm using the same version you are using.

If you erase everything on each scanner and do an upload to each scanner, all the above mentioned settings should be identical.

What you receive should be identical.

After that, the only thing that would seem to explain the difference is quality control.

i had the same problem with 436 multiple phone calls to unuden same system nj inter ops. Load the scanner with your zip code. it takes some time but this is the solution after zip code load as you scan through all other systems avoid all two times then load NJ inter ops when its the only one left & not avoided. option load new db channels. No one could explain why this happens. I could get volume loading fron zio code not software. then rename system

Could be a bad unit. You say the antenna is the same. Do you mean you are switching it between the scanners or the antenna is the same type (telescopic on the rear of the unit) or the same type of external antenna? One antenna might be in a null for the site you want to hear.

i had a 536 that was deaf and had to exchange it ..the replacement is fine. so it does happen
