Help usb software

I downloaded pl-2303 from uniden and installed when i connected my bc 246t it does not detect
I am running windows xp

The computer won't detect the scanner. It will detect the USB-1 cable when you plug it in, and assign a COM port to the cable. Whatever COM port is assigned is the port you'll use to communicate with the scanner.
