HELP! This one has been driving me crazy for days now.

I've been running Unitrunker 24/7 at home on my Dell Dimension 3000 desktop for the last three months. Last Sunday, I went to check the activity and found the screen blank with a "**no signal**" message at the top.

Since then, i've done a good bit of troubleshooting:

- I checked my scanner by hooking it up to my wife's Dell laptop. Unitrunker on the laptop was able to receive a signal fine and follow the system.

- I've reinstalled Unitrunker twice on my desktop, once even going into the registry and cleaning out any entries. The last time, I even installed the 13th public beta version. No luck on those. BTW, Unitrunker was removed by using the Windows Add/Remove Programs, and then deleting the directory in Program Files.

- I've updated the drivers for my sound card (onboard Sound Max Integrated Digital Audio) and that didn't really do anything.

- I've switched the input from my scanner from line in to mic in, and back with no results.

- I've checked the Windows Volume Control, and nothing is muted and the setting are still the same. I've even played with the settings, and it didn't do anything.

- I did run Uniscope and all I get is a flat line with small "bumps" in the line up. I've tried to take a screen shot of it, but since the "bumps" aren't constant, its hard to capture.

So i'm at the point now of either installing a new soundcard or reinstalling Windows XP (which I don't want to do.)

Any help will definately be appreciated!

What kind of scanner? Is it tapped? When Unitrunker is processing, at what %? What type of system (edacs, moto 1,2 )?
When you say bumps in uniscope, have you tried increasing the recording volume to about 50% of the scope screen?

Bad line-in jack (or mic jack, whichever you are using) on the problem PC?

I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 that has had the line-in jack go bad; only if I wiggle the cable and get it 'just right' do I get audio coming in to the PC.

I'm been leaning toward the onboard sound card going bad, however the line in jack still will pass audio through to the speakers.

What kind of scanner? Is it tapped?

Its a BC-235 that I tapped years ago.

When Unitrunker is processing, at what %?

When it was working, it was processing at 97-100%

What type of system (edacs, moto 1,2 )?

Primarily an EDACS system, however I tried it on two local 3600 Motorola Systems, and they didn't work either.

When you say bumps in uniscope, have you tried increasing the recording volume to about 50% of the scope screen?

I adjusted the slider from minimum to maximum, and at different parts in between, on both the line in and mic adjustments. It didn't make any difference.

Warren,

I know it been a while, so hopefully you've recovered... However, if not, here are a couple other things to check.

1) Under Control Panel> Sound and Audio Devices> Audio tab> Sound Recording, check to see what the device is. Go into UniTrunker under Receivers> Signal input and make sure that is set to the same thing (or that the sound recording device isn't set to Bluetooth or some other device).

2) Use a plug-in-mic and see if you can hear yourself through the speakers.

Although it sounds like you've done most of the steps necessary to diagnose the problem, some folks get hosed up when looking at the "Master Volume" settings (the volume control). Make sure that when you are attempting to adjust your INPUT port (eg mic or line in) that you go to Options> Properties and select Recording. This is the INPUT side of sound card. Adjust the mic or line in in this area while using UniScope and see if you note any changes.

If you're still having problems, send me a PM and we can arrange do a real-time diagnostic to get it going.

Did the control channel change on the edacs system?
Iv had that a few times. It's always the same for a good 90% of the time. Then some times for maybe a few hours to a few days it changes to a different one

Hi Everyone:

Thanks to everyone for their responses and their help.

I was able to fix the problem by going to control panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Audio tab. Then I went to the sound recording section, and clicked the volume button. On the pop up window, mic was checked. I selected line in instead, and then pressed ok. After that Unitrunker started working!

Thanks again to all for their suggestions and help! I owe you one!
