I have been using this software for a number of years now without any major glitches until the other day ,when I push send to scanner I get a window pop up saying serial is beeing used by other software and I can’t send anything to th scanner.i go into device manager don’t see anything wrong can someone please help thanx Steve!

I would try a clean install of ARC 500. Uninstall the present version and the driver software, then do a shut down and clean start, not just a restart. Install the software and then the driver. Do not plug in the cable until the instructions tell you, usually after the driver is installed. In addition to my hobby in ham radio, I do computer repair and have found this to work most of the time.

Few things to try:
- re-install the USB driver
- try a different USB port
- unplug usb cable from the PC, do a full PC reboot and plug cable back in
