Help with BC346XT

Thought I had the basics down...However,Quick key #5 is "on" For system/site.Reads "nothing to scan".I am able to turn off and on,but thats it. I do not remember putting anything there,and no system is listed on the menu screen. ?

no help at all...basically the "5" SQK is on.All i can do is turn off or on and it reads svan mode..nothing to scan.The rest of "stuff " in scanner works fine ?? I'm ready to just delete the unit..but not yet..

U have locked out all the Group Quick Keys......

Not locked out..Others work fine. Thats why im writing you guys.I wish that was the simple explanation .But.

What Ronin is saying is that all the Group Quick Keys that are in the system controlled by System Quick Key #5 are locked out/disabled. So even though the system is unlocked there is nothing to scan since all the groups within it are locked out/disabled. Read number 4 in the link that scanchs provided.

I know you guys are the experts,..but that doesn't seem to be it.I managed to get that
"5" to scan "NEWS". I have know idea how it got there,or how to get rid of
it...thats where i am now...

I know quick keys can be assigned to searches, however I have never used this feature. I have not been able to duplicate your problem on my scanner. The procedure below may correct your problem.

Menu

( > means press knob )

search for>

edit service>

news>

search with scan>

set quick key>

. > IS THIS SET TO 5 ?

Menu X 5

Also just below set quick key you can lockout this search too.

If you still havent figured it out, maybe download freescan and read your scanner and pot the file on here. That would most likely let people from here take a look and maybe we can find it for you.

I think member W8RMH may have my answer..Somehow srch must have got saved with nothing in it.Thank you to everyone..if i sounded annoyed,it certainly was with myself and the scanner....not any of you guys..Thanks to all .

Thank you. I will remember this option next time..I'm pretty sure,but i have no idea how,,,a srch was saved with nothing in it if that makes sense.Was not much info in scanner,so rather than wait.,I deleted all and started from scratch..Starting to regret going from GRE, to Uniden.,But the radio is so much nicer ???
