ilost the paperwork to set up and im trying to program the bearcat 898t with motorala type II smart zone. some ids have numbers for dec and numbers/letters for hex. this is for the durham co nc area

Here is a direct link to your scanner's owner's manual in PDF format. Download it to your computer so you will always have a copy (It is 1.27 MB, so it takes some time to download.). You could probably order another copy from Uniden as well.
By the way, the Dec and Hex are the same number for each TG. It is simply a different format for expressing the number. You can "interpret" those by using the calculator on your computer if you are using Windows as an operating system. Simply open the calculator and click View > Scientific. You will now see a new look for the calculator. On the left are "Radio Buttons" that show Hex (Hexadecimal), Dec (Decimal), Oct (Octal), Bin (Binary). Dec (Decimal) is the number you are used to and the default. Put any number in the display and click one of the radio buttons and you will see that same number expressed in a different mathematical format. The Bin (Binary) format is what your scanner and computer understands.
