Can I listen to that on a BC246T?

This HP2 is turing into a colossal waste of money...

Yes it's a shame that Uniden has not made receiving DMR an option on the HP2 like they have on several other current models. The next closest thing to what you have that would receive DMR is the Uniden BCD436HP (hand held), Uniden BCD536HP (base model) or SDS100 (hand held color). These Uniden models have the RR frequency database built-in and can record audio just like the HP2. They would each require purchasing the Uniden DMR option ($50) to be able to receive the Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort traffic. Whistler also has the similar TRX-1 (hand held) and TRX-2 (base model) scanners that would receive DMR out of the box (no options needed). There are cheaper alternatives that would receive DMR but they would require more work on your end to set up.

Thanks for the info. Trying to find the box for my HP2 so I can put it on ebay. May look into upgrading to something DMR capable.
Is there anything out there that can do DMR and listen to my now encrypted local law enforcement?

No. No scanner or receiver made can listen to encrypted audio. It is illegal to even try. Only two-way radios that support the same encryption method *AND* have the same encryption key can receive encrypted audio. Encryption keys are a closely guarded secret and are usually managed by secure software services (not visible to human eyes).

Not looking to break any laws. Thought maybe that provoice upgrade business maybe applicable to my situation. I am a newb when it comes to this stuff so I am not sure what my local sheriffs are using now. I just know the only way to listen is a 30 min delayed feed online. Which is ok...when you have internet.

No, the HP2 Extreme Upgrade option adds some additional feature but no new receive modes.
If you can hear the Sheriff via a feed online, they are probably not encrypted. You may be too far away from the transmitter tower or have terrain in the way that prevents you from receiving them. An external antenna *may* help depending on your location.

Also make sure you have the "Law Dispatch" Service Type turned on in your HP2.

His local sheriff is in fact encrypted. They run a delayed feed.

Yes I am glad they have the online delayed feed. Though I worry about a SHTF situation when power/internet is down. (very likely here due to forest fires) I would like to still be able to listen in with a scanner!
