First of all I would like to say Hello to all

Now my problem I just brought a new pro-652 last weekI also have been playing around with Win500 and ARC500 both seem to do well the only thing I have noticed is when I upload to the scanner data from RadioReference with Win500 the Alpha Tag info is longer then the display on the pro-652 where as when I use ARC500 it's not I'm sure sure how to fix it. Also the other problem is the trunk system freguencies if I say select all the Denver Metro ones it take the count over 32 I get a worning about the scanner only able to do 32 but selecting all the Denver Metro Tower comes oyt to like 47 so I guess it cut the rest off. So my qustion is which ones get cut off? Is there a way around this? Or do I not need all the Denver Metro Area ones and if not which ones are the most important? It only happens on the State DTRS and the Denver Radio Metro area one that has sites that are over 32.

Now the other problem I'm having unless it's just me when I use ARC500it seems not to receice as good as when I use Win500 not sure if that has to do with some of the site control channles being lost being I'm trying to program more then 32 so it's cutting them of or what.

Also not sure if this is alowed but is it possable if someone has a 652 already programed for the Denver Area if they could send me there program file? Also How much of the front range say from Colo Springs to Fort Collins can be heard in the denver Area?

I'd really Appreciate any help in this.

Not exactly sure what you're seeing with regard to Denver. The RR site lists the following 20 frequencies for the Denver EDACS system, only five of which are known as control channels. Compare the two and let us know what's different.

01 854.98750c
02 855.48750c
03 855.98750c
04 856.48750c
05 857.23750
06 857.73750c
07 858.48750
08 859.23750
09 859.73750
10 854.43750
11 855.23750
12 855.73750
13 856.23750
14 856.73750
15 857.48750
16 858.23750
17 858.73750
18 859.48750
19 854.06250
20 854.56250

Maybe I didn't explain it right as to the max 32 frequency problem it looks like thae scanner has a limitation of only 32 per system or whatever so say I pick the Denver Area Radio MARC ok with consist of 4 sites 2 on Mount Morrison 1 on Green mountain and 1 in Arvada ok thats a totle of 37 the same if I celect all the Denver Area states DRTS sites when I go to import I get a warring message about being more then 32 trunk frequencies. So does it knock the extra off or add then but with out any talk groups.

I don't think you need any freqs except for the CC freqs. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but it works like that with all my scanners.

yes you are right ok when you use say Win500 you use the import from Radiorefernce at which time you select your country then your state then your then your city after that you get what sites and talkgroups are available so if you select say Stare of Colo DTRS you get the site fregs and talkgroups lists on the sites you say select all the Denver area ones after which ends up being more then 32 something like 47 or more so the get the warning about being to many more then 32.if you select yes I'm trying to figure out what it does with the extra over 32. Do you lose them does it ad then in another list and point the talkgroups to them?

Then my other problem is with Win500 the talkgroup info is longer then the scanners display where as with ARC500 its shorter so is there a way to correct that in Win500.

Dan's statement is entirely correct. In Colorado, you'll only ever need the red colored primary CC as the alternates are only ever used once in a blue moon.

...the only thing I have noticed is when I upload to the scanner data from RadioReference with Win500 the Alpha Tag info is longer then the display on the pro-652 where as when I use ARC500 it's not I'm sure sure how to fix it.

Win500 has 3 options to import text into the scanner if I remember correctly. The default is to import the description. One of the options that should be to use the Alpha Tag on the database which will fit the display of the Pro-652.

So my qustion is which ones get cut off? Is there a way around this? Or do I not need all the Denver Metro Area ones and if not which ones are the most important?

You definitely do not need certain towers around Denver. Some of the towers in the heart of Denver actually denies much of the traffic for Colorado. The towers with the most activity are Lookout Mountain (108), Squaw Mountain (106), Thorodin (105), Riley Peak (102), and Smoky Hill (107). If you look, you'll notice that this is directly related to the number of frequencies assigned to the site. Others can be used to target traffic you are interested in. You can basically add everything in the Denver area if you restrict yourself to primary CC only.

Also How much of the front range say from Colo Springs to Fort Collins can be heard in the denver Area?

If you use Lookout Mountain, you can probably cover Broomfield to roughly the Douglas/El Paso border. You can reference Individual CO DTRS Sites on the wiki to get a rough idea of simulated coverage.

Might want to throw Chevron into that mix to cover a few holes in the landscape.

No, it wasn't how you said it, it was how I read it. For some reason when I read "Denver Metro", I somehow read that as the City and County of Denver, and answered only for their system (which is, as it happens, entirely separate from all of the other systems at the moment) for which I was supplying the 5 control frequencies.

Ok I'm still trying to figure this out some of it Spitfire explained very good Also out of the 4 Denver Metro MARC sites which one is not that important? I guess the Arvada is not they I guess put that site up to cover some dead spots with hand helds but the 2 on Mount Morrison I'm not sure of, Also I dont see it listed but does Denver county not use the Public Works system as one of there back ups? They also use to use the old fire Alarm/Rado shop as a backup a few year ago I still hear them I guess Simulcasting on the Pubic Works System i'm not sure why.

Looks like this thread is getting complicated.

For Madjoe:

MARC sites 1 or 2 is Lakewood and Wheatridge along with West Metro fire.

Arvada is exclusively on site 21.

Site 6 for Denver is in the early stages of implementation for public works with Library Security as a primary user at this point. There are random moments of some public safety being patched from the public safety EDACS system and is not really useful at this time for public safety monitoring.

For Denver the Public Safety EDACS system is the one to use for Police, Fire and EMS.

Denver Public works EDACS has random public safety roaming on it however it is not reliable for public safety monitoring..

Personally I prefer using win500 for programming this series of scanners

I personally have them programmed as 3 different radio systems to allow for effective monitoring. You will not hear Lakewood/West Metro/Wheat Ridge on Arvada or Denver's site and you will not hear Arvada on any site that's not Arvada. I have Denver programmed for if I'm ever in the area and feel like seeing if anything is going on for Denver P25, but I almost always have it locked out otherwise.

Might want to throw Chevron into that mix to cover a few holes in the landscape.

Chevron (164) is very good for if you need expanded coverage. It's important to note that Chevron does deny several agencies for system loading like Jefferson County and Broomfield.

In Colorado, you'll only ever need the red colored primary CC as the alternates are only ever used once in a blue moon.

Also, to expand on this statement I made, primary control channels only apply to P25/Motorola systems. EDACS requires that all frequencies be programmed in order that they show up in the database.
