I'm having trouble monitoring thornton and northglenn. I know that their systems run off the 700 system. Is there any way to moniter them on the 800. I can monitor them is to go to another area.

Your best bet would be Mount Thorodin 853.97500. They are pretty hit and miss off of Lookout and denied as well.

Thank you for youre help. Would a rooftop antenna help? Or investing in a better scanner.

What scanner and antenna are you using?

Can you hear the Mt Thordin control channel at least?

Using an 800 mhz rubber duck rs antenna. I cannot receive the control chanel from mt. Thordin. I can receive 700 control channel on pro96, but that doesn't help. Thanls in advance for you're help.

You are trying the 853.975 control channel not the old one correct?

Not looking for an address but what general area in Northglenn are you? I know of areas near N. Washington between 88th and 104th and 120th and I-25 are 800 MHz dead zones for scanners due to cell and Nextel sites..

I was thinking about this yestreday as well while I was sitting in a parking lot NE of 120th and Washington wondering why the only site I could hear was the Simulcast. Lately, the area bounded by 100th on the south, 120th on the north, Colorado on the east and I-25 on the west seems very saturated with cell sites.

I may have to make a note every time this happens and start making a list and add each as a POI on the 996. Does anyone (yes Chris - I'm thinking of you) have a list already?

Yeah Thorodin is probably going right over the top of you since your below the hill at 112th. I always have a hard time with my radio in that area and up to 120th east of I-25. You might jump up on your roof with your radio to see if you can do any better before buying an antenna. But like previously stated just a dead spot. I know it's not the same but you can always listen to the online feed.

Nope, I have not really messed with that feature.

So is it a DTRS blackhole I'm in? I ask because ican receive westminster, denver and lakewood on my 164 and 433. The 433 is a base unit I use in my home.

Westy is off of Eldorado Mtn. with (IMO) good coverage. Lakewood is off Green Mountain and Mt. Morrison (WMFPD), and Denver has numerous sites including Mt. Morrison.

There are times up here (while driving) that those three are the only thing I can hear as well.

My understanding was that the old Mt Morrison PS site (minus LCN21-24 which are history) is a "seamless" standby/backup site in case the simulcast cluster crashes/fails.

Another possibility to consider. In the 90's the PW system was considered a backup to PS if both Morrison and the 8th ave backup sites failed.

For ratbast can you hear/track with the S. Greeley CC on 853.3125? Reason why is Northglenn dispatch TG 20 seems to be on it 24/7 in recent months.

I have greely site plugged in and I am not getting anything. I cannot receive any control channels on the 800 system at all where I live.

Sounds like you're in RF cell hell at home. I gather you're passed the 30 day return on your PRO-96?

It will be interesting to see if any relief occurs after Sprint is scheduled to get the remaining Nextel iDen sites moved out of the 854-862 MHz legacy band by July.
