I have a new IC-V82, OPC-478U and the CS-V82 cloning software, but I
am having trouble with getting the cloning to work.

Everything installed with no issues, and when choosing the COM port it
accepts the choice and goes to the main screen. However when I try to
read from the radio the transfer progress screen pops up and then says
"Illegal Data" and to check the power, yadda
yadda. The radio acknowledges that it is receiving a command by
changing from CLONE to CL OU.

If you try to send to the radio the display changes to CL IN, and the
progress screen pops up real quick and then says that it can not
communicate with the radio.

Software installed ok and the radio is powered up, and the drivers all
are good, so other than those, I have no clue what the issues is. I
tried it on 2 other computers with the same issues. Also sometimes the
radio displays CL NG, but nothing happens

Looking to see if anyone has any other suggestions or ideas, or
related problems.

Thanks,
Ian

I have the CS-V82 software and have successfully used it on a V82 and two U82's with no problem. However, I have the OP-478 cable that uses the serial (com1) 9 pin computer connector. I would check the USB settings for the port you are using first. Also be sure the plug is fully in the radio.

Port settings are all good, no problems or conflicts on the bridge, and cord is all the way plugged in.

The only other thing I see in the software is a speed setting for high or normal under the comm port settings. Mine is set for normal.
