• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello,

I have a President Lincoln II, and I could use some assistance from some kind sole with the time to either type out the button and dial layout so I can use the radio, or maybe someone here is interested in doing youtube videos on this and some other radios in a way that a Blind person can understand them.

That would require referring to buttons and dials in a way that you would if you were talking to someone over your landline telephone.

Like for example, you might say or type:

There are three buttons in the top row and left to right, they are:

X Y & Z.

and so on.

I also need to know from a President Lincoln user which band is for CB AM, LSB & USB.

I've watched youtubes on this, so I know there is a button for changing A through J and then the band button, but in the videos, they are relying on you seeing which button or control they are touching at the time.

Thanks for any help, and there a lot of Visually Impaired users out there that are in need of such help, but nobody ever steps up to provide us the simple help we need, not even the companies that make these radios.

Band A is the standard CB Band. The only other bands you can legally use with your ham license are portions of Band D, all of Band F, all of Band H, all of Band I, part of Band L, and part of Band J.

Actually I can use all the bands, I now have a General class (K0LNY). RR just doesn't seem easy for changing my user name. Thanks for that tidbit, but I just don't know how to select band A. I think the band button is the last button in the third row, and I don't know the order, if it is AM LSB USB FM or what, going by the sound. I don't know how to scan either. I've messed it up more than anything else trying to figure out the buttons.

To switch between AM, FM, ect., you need to use the Mode button. (There are four buttons next to the mic jack. Mode is the top right.) The order of the modes are: AM, FM, USB, LSB, CW and PA. The bottom left is the Band button which allows for switching between A, B, ect.
Hope this is somewhat helpful.

No you can't. You need to look at your frequency privileges again. There are many frequencies in that radio that are not in the 10/12 meter bands. What I broke down above is 100% accurate as far as what you can and cannot use.

The info is a good start, and helpful.
Thanks.
If anyone without this radio is interested in helping, here's a video that is somewhat helpful to me, but is very good for someone with sight and can tell which buttons he means. It only gives me a close idea but none of the specifics that I need.
