Is there a trick to pulling San Jose PD's frequencies? I'm new to the scanning world and programed the listed frequencies in correctly yet all of them have no audio. I find it hard to believe that the city's police department is that bored and has no radio traffic.

Just the SJPD freq's. I haven't seen some of those frequencies before though, so I'll have to try some of them tonight.

Last time I was in the San Jose area, about 6 months ago, I definitely heard radio traffic on those UHF frequencies.

I'd bet their calls are computer dispatched anyway.

Good luck!

Ok, how do I do that?
I am not sure on your radio. You may want to ask in the Radio Shack Scanners forum. I haven't owned a RatShack scanner in over 18 years.

On my Uniden BCD396T, the modulation (Auto, AM, FM, WFM, NFM) is chosen when programing the frequency into the radio (either by hand or via software). Many scanners have a default modulation (or "Auto") based upon the band (e.g. a frequency of 118.300 MHz would default to the AM band, etc.). For each channel on my scanner (when put on "Hold"), I can adjust the modulation or I can go through each system and change the modulation for each channel. It is much easier to do via the software (less tedious).

Still waiting to see if someone can help with this. I'm now programming with Win97 if that helps!

Well, here's what I did. I entered the frequencies and changed the band to CT and added the CT frequencies in the repective blocks. Still, no signals whatsoever. Am I entering this correctly? Or is it something else?

What you should do FIRST is set each channel to FM and make sure the bank is OPEN. Setting the freqs to CT will only keep you from hearing stuff that is not the tone freq you've entered. Once you get it so that you are receiving, then you can go back and set up the CT freqs/etc.
