help with pro-94 and motorola type 1 trunked system

i entered in all the frequencies and then i do what the instructions say

hit prgm
hit turnk
hit the bank #
press /\ or \/
choose e1
press e
press data(alt) and choose the fleet map.



^ that doesnt work. it just gives a series of like 3 quick beeps and nothing happens.

any help please?

did you enter the freqs as MOT freqs (PROG then TRUNK--TRUNK appears in the display... then select the bank where you want the system to go using the number keys... once there then select the proper system (E1 is correct) using the arrow keys, press E(SVC) key... enter freqs as normal, look for MOT in the display... when they are ALL entered then you need to press SCAN then SRC so the radio can find the data channel and internalize the system... once the thing finds the system it will start scanning... good luck. where are you in ky?

Im in elx ky, ive already got the downtown lex uk trunked stuff they are using edacs or w/e. the type 1 (motorla) . you enter the freqs like normal, ive got them in bank 9 right now, anyways, i enter them all and then hit pgm, then trunk, then it lets me choose the uh.. type (e1, e2, e hi, and e uhf, and ed) when you choose e1 and hit e, you are then supposed to hit data(alt) and choose one of 16 preset fleet maps. i try to do that but it just sits there on the ast entered freq. and beeps 3 times quick (error beep) i tried it 50+ times and i also tried it in an emtpy bank so that i could enter the freqs later. that did the same thing. i dunno man. i cant choose a fleet map.

anyways, heres the freqs i was tryin to use. maybe im doing it wrong or something?

Southern Communications

am i correct in assume that the "LTR" ones are just "conventional" freqencies (ie : no trunk stuff , jsut enter them and lsiten?)

? personally i want the nextel things. are thye the two radios on uh. cell phones or whatever like my uncle has?

chances are you won't hear anything from the nexthell system because of the way they transmit....

the federal medical center system is digital... you won't be able to monitor it on a pro94...

the southern communications system and the lexington sanitation systems are both ltr so they can't be monitored with a pro94 either....

where in east ky are you, i can send you some freqs you can monitor....

its not even listening to the nextel things, its getting the damn fleet map selection working.

well w/e. im in lexinto, its central ky. also, i have all 16 freqs from the bluegrass army depot trs or something, i tried lsitening to it but i only heard some voices and the rest of the time nothing OR i heard a constant engine sound like BWURWURWURUWRUWURUWRUWRURUW like that. any ideas on that?

The engine sound you hear is probably the control channel for the trunk.

YES it sounds EXACTLY like my bank 1 (uk/downtown stuff trunk) but i dont know what i need to do with it, i mean i THINK i got it in the lcn but is it edacs? m type 1, m 2 800? m2 900? m2 vhf ? m2 uhf? how can i find out? just enter them all then uh. change from each type of thing to the other? also, my bank 1 does allow voice through sometimes but then after like 3 seconds it cuts off and starts beeping and making noises, then i switch to trunk and its fine. this army depot stuff it talked completely normal sometimes, and SOMETIMES that engine noise isnt even on. thats why i think it is conventional but other times i think its trunk.

any ideas?

can you drop your scanner of at my work place and give me a day or two with it?

you can't monitor some of the systems you have indicated using a pro94... the army depot system is not easy to monitor near the fence and it is digital which means you'd need a digital scanner.... the sound you describe is about what nextel sounds like because of the way they broadcast... as for the downtown stuff.... let me have your radio for a couple of days and i will try to make it work for you...

eh... nah i think ill pass on that, no offense or anything but im not too dandy of the idea of leaving my my rather (im 18) expensive stuff somewhere im not uh.. used to or whatever? its not that i dont trust that YOU persoanlly would do anything its just in genera thigns happen, i know co workers that i have worked with dont give a DAMN about anything of mine. like i said, nothing personal.

i thought the digital stuff i wouldnt hear ANYTHING other than the beep and static stuff. how can i hear some of the stuff at the army depot then? i mean i was hearing FULL transmissions, like 10+ seconds.

maybe we can find another way to get you messing with my scanner, since im not to fond of leving it anywhere besides with you to take to your house or something.

5-rupp arena securtiy / facilities ------------------------ This is digital, i was lsitening to it all of 30 minutes ago and HEARD them talking about a telephone or something.

6-Airport Operations
7-Sheriffs and Health Department
8-Detention Center stuff
