Help with PSREDIT500, how to use it and how to download info with WS1040

I am very new to this. I have a Whistler WS1040 and downloaded the PSREDIT500. I have no clue how to use this. How do I get info back and forth? From Radioreference to my scanner using the PSREDIT500? Is there a user guide for dummies to help me? My email is jammer99@att.net Please help. I appreciate it!

In order to use the Radio Reference database with PSREDIT500 you must have a paid subscription to Radio Reference.

When I try and search for scanner port it says no scanner found

I had the same issue. Did you get the yellow sheet included with your WS1040? If so, then follow the directions on the PC/IF Port Configuration. I have now manually programmed my WS1040 because when I use the PSREdit500 I am not able to receive any transmissions. So, let me know if you have success using the software.

First of all, thank you for the reply. I did get that yellow sheet and my problem was it would not find the port, scanner or drivers. The guys at Whistler sent me the drivers and we got it to work. Now I can download from the scanner to the PSREdit500 but don't know how to set up the scanner with that program.
Did you find the port that the program is looking for? It your problem is the drivers, I can send you that.

If you click on configuration....then click on serial port settings, then on search for port.....it will find what port your chord is attached to and then allow you to "apply" that

No Kris, that didn't work. I had to call Whistler and they sent me the updated drivers. All is good now. Just have to figure out how to get around the program now.

30 day trial allows you 30 days to manually use the features of the software.

You would need to pay for the additional functionality that is integrated that allows the Software
to download from the RRDB

PSREdit is awesome, I used it regularly on my GRE/RS and Whisler branded radios
and have never used it to DATA Dump from the RRDB, as I prefer to manually edit my radios

Butel ARC500 software is also excellent for programming the WS1040. It also has a free trial period.
