• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all, I need some help(AGAIN, LOL). I can't get my RSS program to save any code plugs. Every time I program a radio, and hit the correct function button for save file, I type in the name I was the saved file called, and I always get the same error message...and I can't remember in with way, either "path file not found, or " file path not found". Either way, I am not able to save my code plugs....and I have many different radios I program, and they aren't all for the same Dept. so I would like to be able to save a file for one of each. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Go into the settings for the rss. It will have a "file path" option. Set it to just "/" and see if that works.

AND in DOS format, 12345678.bat

So, if I am understanding this correctly, and you will have to excuse me...I am not DOS savvy, but if I am understanding this correctly, I need to save it starting with the / button, then use a file name up to 8 characters? Again, I apologize, I am not that savvy with DOS stuff as far as the technical terms, but just start the file with the backslash icon and then continue with the name I want to call it, up to 8 characters?

When you first open rss one of the function keys opens settings. In settings is a setting for "file save path" or something like that. In that field enter "/" without quotes. Then back out of that menu and go to save your code plug. It will ask you for a file name. It needs to be something like "ht1000.cpg"
