I have a new SDS100 and its programmed with many county favs. Mainly P25, simulcast, conventional and other types of transmissions.
I have some business-exclusive UHF frequency 2 way radios, namely, Motorola RDU4160D walkie talkies running on UHF on channel 2 on 464.5000MHz and I believe I have a CTCSS or PL/DPL privacy code on the channel.
My question is why does my SDS100 not pick up anything from this? Do I need to remove the privacy code, or simply turn on close call, or add the frequency in my favorites? Not sure what the easiest way is to capture transmissions automatically. Do I need to purchase a MOTOTRBO key? This radio is conventional type.
Anyone know what the issue might be? Is this a setting I need to enalbe in Sentinel software?
Appriciate the help!

UPDATE: just figured it out. I enabled close call in DND mode in Sentinel to transmit behind current transmissions only. I tested my radio and it worked flawlessly. I also enabled the business checkbox in "service types".
Pretty awesome. Now I can capture my own radios transmissions at very long range. much farther range than 5 watt in UHF allows with 2 way business radios which is only about a half mile or so, or 2 about miles in the open.

Yup, you don't need close call, all you need is the frequency you use (presuming you are not using a repeater) and service type added to a favorites list.

Oh ok I get it. So to catch my own transmission I just need my own frequency saved in FAVS verses close call which is more for catching random transmissions in immediate area. Im understanding it much better now.

I've been told many times not to use a high watt 2 way right by the sds100. High watt being 3, 4 or 5+. It can overheat the receiver chip I've heard and has burned out some scanners in prior incidents of doing this. I'm not sure other than what I've heard.
Best way is turn your SDS100 on turn up volume all the way and go outside to driveway or sidewalk and transmit and you'll hear it.
I am not a pro, this is all I've heard in past posts in other forums. not sure if its nonsense or not. it does make sense on older scanners but I'm not sure if its the same for sds100. I stay on side of caution. it cost me too much to risk.
