My wife bought her 80 year old Mother a BCT8 Scanner for Christmas. She has an old scanner but she wants to be able to hear both ends of the police chat and the old one apparently only hears the dispatch. I know nothing about scanning and am faced with setting this up for her before Christmas. She lives in Henry County Indiana and I see on the BCT8 there's a button for Police and one for State??? Does this mean I don't need to program anything? I need help quick so I hav time to learn before it gets wrapped and put under the tree.

you will probably have to program, but it looks like sheriffs in that county is all conventional so it shouldnt be to hard, on the stae system might be hard but you might see if there you have a computer cable and use a program to set it up. Look in the indiana section of the database

If you want we can meet up somewhere around the Hancock County Henry County line and I can program it for you in a few minutes. Fortunately Henry Co isn't all digital, I can also put some surroundng counties in as well if you want, just let me know which ones you want so can have them ready. Hancock Co will be going fulltme to SAFET in late spring early summer.

That would be very cool. I think she is mostly just interested in Henry County goings on. You tell me when and where this coming weekend and I will be there.

I live in Centerville and work in Richmond so the weekend would work best for me. Just let me know I am off work Xmas Eve so that's an option too but cutting it fine.

My issues is I downloaded the Uniden Idiots guide its says to enter the freq in blue and red (867.48750c) however there doesn't seem to be enough space for all the digits you either loose the leading 8 or trailing 0 either way its not working.

I am trying to figure this out while trying to connect with Viper43. I really need a step by step guide such as press this button then type 8...6...7... etc. I just need to get this running and give it to my mother in law.

We got it, well kind of, unfortunately the system he wanted to put in is digital anyway so it wouldn't have worked.
