I recently purchased a Uniden BCD996XT Digital Scanner for my wife. I had no idea how to program it for our area, so I sent it to Scanner Master and they programed in the information for Lucas and Wood Counties.

We now have the scanner back and my wife would like to be able to listen to it and know what she is listening to. My knowledge on the operation of the scanner is limited to putting on the antenna and plugging it in. After that I get lost very quickly.

Is the some manual, etc. that gives very, very basic instructions that can be followed by someone like myself so I can assist my wife in listening to her new scanner.

I have already secured the operation manual from Scanner Master and it way over my head.

These things are way more complex than the old days.

Thank you for the info. I printed it out to use, but it still looks like it will be a little complicated. I need something like instant scanner use for dummies.

the home patrol 1 may be a better option for you. from what i know you just plug it in and enter in the zip code.
