Its 1:42 am(est). I will admit I'm alittle punchy and its waaay past my bedtime.None the less, my question is this:

Above the orange "Digital Trunking" letters on the face of the pro-96 scanner, is a group of symbols.What are they and what does it say or mean?

Im up this late reading this forum. I gotta say, its an excellent resource.Bravo to the owner and all who help keep it running.

I have alot of questions regarding my new scanner and this is the 1st place I come to for answers and asking them as well. I have even read the answers to questions that I hadnt thought of at the time.

Anyways, theres my question. I looked around hadnt seen it asked so I thought I would ask it.

It's digital morse code that says "Thanks for your $500" .

I have no idea what it is either but I assume it's some marketing thing to make it look high tech. Whatever it is, it didn't carry over to the Pro-2096 so I guess it wasn't that important.

SAY WHAT? It's on MY PRO-2096 right above the display.

The best anyone knows, it's supposed to represent a digital signal.

Whoops, Joe, you're right. I guess it blends in so well with the black background that I never noticed it until I checked again after reading your post.

If you've ever watched cable TV with digital channels you would know what it is. Its what the digital signals look like when the signal dropped into the dumper.

Funny you bring this up! I've had my PRO-2096 for a few weeks now, but just noticed that myself...late last night! It makes no sense. :?

i don't know what it means yet... but i've thought of a few things.

if i read it correctly, this is roughly what it looks like, right? (i don't have a pro-96, just going off of a couple pictures i found online)

to make sure, i've separated each 'column' with a line to show how it's lined up:

it looks like it repeats half-way through, as follows, with the second half being identical to the first:

there are 20 columns total, with the first 10 and second 10 the same. it *looks* strangely similar to braille, in that each letter is two columns and three rows, but if you split it up in that manner it doesn't seem to make any sense (http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~suan/misc/braille.gif):

ANYWAY, that's as far as i got... probably some other pattern i've missed. on the other hand, it could just be nothing at all any other ideas?

It is just an interesting pattern that an Industrial Designer came up with.

BTW, read as binary, it would be:

or

Neither of which spells my name (or the ID guy's name) in ASCII or EBCDIC. Should have thought of doing that, though...
