Mid-South Airshow frequencies:

Millington tower 120.25 Unicom 122.95

Blue Angels start and taxi 346.5 MHz AM
Diamond formation behind crowd 275.35 MHz AM
Solo's behind crowd 237.8 or 251.6 MHz AM
Show center and Delta formation 284.25 MHz AM
Fat Albert 305.5 MHz AM
Maintenance Alfa 139.8125 MHz NFM
Maintenance Bravo 142.6125 MHz NFM

Canadian Snowbirds 272.1 MHz AM

Even if you don't go to the show they are definitely a must to listen to if you are nearby. Blue Angels are led by callsign "Boss" in the number 1 plane up front in formation. There isn't a lot of talk in the flight performance but it's the best of the best. You can even hear the strain in voices when they are pulling g's but they make it sound so easy.

Mid-South Airshow Air Boss??????

Usually they set up a freq for the "air boss" in addition to the tower freq. Anyone have any idea what that might be this year???????

More airshow

We might try in 122-123 MHz range

Possibilities: 122.75 123.475 122.725 123.150

Does anyone know when the Blue Angels are going to do their prep flight Friday? I understand they try for same time as their show flight time for sun angle similarity.

If anyone catches the practice on Fri or the show on Saturday a nice rundown of the freqs Sat evening would be nice. I know thats cheating but i'm driving from Nashville on Sunday and don't really have time to do a lot of searching. I would rather be scanning the show and not searching all day for freqs. In addition to the Blue's Solo's behind the crowd freqs you might add 264.55 to that list. I confirmed that one down in Pensacola Beach's airshow. The others will be in too as the Blues are notorious for using different freqs from week to week.

Freqs. heard Friday

Watched Snowbirds and Blue Angels practice today. Snowbirds stayed on 272.1 and the Blue Angels used the same listed at first of this thread. Lots of comms on 142.61 before flight.

The practice was as good as the shows I've seen and the Boss was pretty talkative today.

Listened at home tonight for any twilight show activity. 123.15 used by someone there in show. Also Snowbirds were back on 272.1.

No I didn't. One of the comms. I heard on 142.61 was Blue Angels "owned the airspace from x-time to x-time" and they got wind and other info from comm cart. So did Snowbirds on their freq. I didn't hear anything from a show boss or tower today but I know they will be evident Sat.

Just returned from the airshow. Sunday Oct 2. What a performance by all. I will be back.

122.85 Show Boss
269.90 Was supposed to be UHF side for show boss but the F-16 couldn't reach him on it.

120.25 Millington Tower
340.20 Millington Tower ( The F-16 called this one to relay to show boss that he was cranking up and no joy on 269.9)

123.15 Discrete (Used by all civilian performances A2A and simulcast with PA. Including the Heritage Flight)

Mil TAC Demos:
A-10/ Callsign: HAWG 01 Taxi out on 122.85 switch 123.15
F-16/ Callsign: VIPER 01 Taxi out on 122.85
F/A-18F/Callsign: RHINO 01 Taxi out on 122.85
No UHF noted for TAC Demos

Heritage Flight: 123.15 Consisted of P-51, F-16, A-10, and F-4

272.10 Canadian Snowbirds All 9 A/C Formation and Solos

USN Blue Angels:

139.8125 Maintenance A
142.6125 or 142.61 Maintenance B also Comm Cart
305.50 (Button 10) Fat Albert/C-130 Nice JATO T/O
346.50 Taxi out (and time to be silly)
284.25 Show Center (All planes, Diamond and Solos)
275.35 Behind the Crowd (Diamond)
237.80 Behind the Crowd (Solos)

I didn't hear any other Blues Maint freqs other those listed. Anyone hear anything different? Any freqs to add? It was a good time with great WX. Sorry Mark but i was monitoring FRS 5 but had others using it too plus an annoying call tone.

Hello Corn

Show Boss was on 123.5 Saturday but I didn't find it until late in show. Heritage flight used 136.575 Sat. BA's were neat-one solo had a maint. issue and called for standby plane to be started after first or second fly by. He landed and swapped planes and got back into show. A few fly by's in, one of the formation guys had slight problem. He went to some airspace nearby, worked it out, formation kept going minus one, then he rejoined a pass or two later. They handled it so well it was like no big deal. I forgot to mention Friday when I watched the practice some people also watching heard my scanner and came over and listened. They were amazed and they got a kick out of hearing them. I don't think they believed I was listening to them until they noticed the cues matching the moves....

I wonder why they changed the show boss freq. Usually it stays the same both days but i guess they can do what they want. After the Heritage Flight started their passes the radio was silent. I tried a quick search on VHF air but didn't find anything. I didn't want to search too long as it would be over in a few and i might have missed something on the freqs i had. They were all talking on 123.15 during the A-10 demo. Maybe they switched over to the other and I didn't know it. Anyway it was a good show and very well run. Can't wait till 2007.
