This scanning forum is getting pretty big. How would feel about maybe adding seperate forums for each popular scanner. (Pro 94, Pro 93/95). Or sort them by distributor. (RS, BC, GRE). This way we would not have to wade through posts about scanners that we are not interested in?

What about a live scanners forum? We could announce our own live scanner feed, post breaking news that can be monitored via live feed, etc. A software forum might be good too - for announcing and discussing new scanner software packages.

Of course pretty soon we'll have someone pipe up and say there's too many forums and it takes too long to check them all. You can't please everyone.

You could always combine R.Swith GRE since one makes stuff for the other. That would eliminate one forum right there.

There's plenty of forums as it is. Way too many scanner models for each one to have it's own forum. You'll always get the people who want to know why "their" scanner model doesn't have it's own forum.

How about a vehicle install section. For the discussion, of installations, the showing of pictures of various install jobs.

Sorry Lindsay for opening that can of worms. I will revise my request to just forums for the major brands, BC, GRE, and RS.

Your intent was well placed Larry, but you know quickly things can get out of hand on here once we all get a head of steam going!

While we're on the subject: how about a forum for each province in Canada?

Yes, let's ask Mike if he would like to moderate ten more forums!

It seems that only Ontario,Saskatchewan,Alberta,B.C. and rarely
Quebec and NFLD participate.

It would be viable if more postings were made, we just don't have
enough traffic. :(

I don't mean to hijack the message thread, but there are a number of things I'd like to point out about this. I agree there are not a lot of posts in the Canada forums, but I share the sentiments that the forums should be split by province or at least section of Canada - at some rate, if not necessarily now. Frequently one happens across a post with references to "Zone 2 help needed" or somesuch similar. What I'm getting at is, people are assuming that everyone knows they mean the new Ontario smartzone systems when there is a whole lot of other landmass and radio usage in this country as well. Granted, I do read every message I can in the Canada forum, and at least glance over pretty much everywhere else - even in the state forums that I don't have any chance of monitoring or contributing to. However, it'd be nice, especially in a forum that covers an entire country, if folks could try to use more descriptive subject lines. :)

Speaking as a long time user and operator of many different types of forums, I don't think the Canada forum will need to be broken up into provinces until the point at which the traffic for, say, a day spans more than one page of "new posts since last visit". Know what I mean?

As well... who says that "Mike" would have to moderate all the forums? For example, I'm in Alberta and am rather knowledgable about radio and scanning, plus I'm a longtime message forum user and operator (since before the Internet).

Just my two cents...
